Jeera Rice Recipe
Cuisine: PunjabiJeera Rice Recipe: Jeere Da Rice, or cumin-flavored rice, is a simple yet aromatic dish that often accompanies many Indian meals. The use of cumin seeds adds a warm and earthy flavor to the rice.
Ingredients
Basmati Rice :- 1 cup
Jeera :- 2 tsp
Cashewnuts :- 2 tbsp
Whole Peppercorns :- 3
Bay Leafs :- 2
Cloves :- 3
Cinnamon sticks :- 2
Onion (Sliced) :- 1
Ghee :- 2 tbsp
Salt to taste
Directions
- The rice should be washed and then soaked in water for around 30 minutes.
- The ghee should be heated in a heavy saucepan and cashewnuts should be added. It should be fried till it turns brown, after which they should be taken out and kept aside.
- Cloves, bay leafs, onions, cumin seeds, cinnamon seeds and peppercorns should be added to the ghee and fried for some time.
- Salt, water and rice should be added and stirred. It should be covered with a lid and flame should be simmered.
- The rice should be cooked till it is done.
- The jeera rice can now be served raita or spicy curry.
